Trends In Home Improvements For 2024

The ushering in of a new year has a way of invigorating us to accomplish fresh dreams and ambitions, and for some it gives them a push to reinvent and update the existing styling of their homes.

Home transformations can be so purifying and January is a prime month for launching one to relight a love of where you live, not just for yourself, but for everyone who lives with you too.

To ignite you into action, Bon Accord has searched high and low on the web to unearth 2024’s biggest forecasted home design trends – they could be the inspiration behind your home makeover.

Sweet Embrace™ – Dulux Colour of the Year

Barbie was the box-office smash hit of 2023 and we reckon it may have been a factor in Dulux selecting Sweet Embrace™ as their Colour of the Year for 2024. When you see it you’ll know why!

It’s a blossom pink that’s a softened version of the lead’s strong pink clothing with a tinge of blue and grey in it. They say it was chosen as a remedy to the modern hecticness of life, but we suspect it was due to them being as gripped by Barbie-mania as the rest of us.

Sweet Embrace™ isn’t overbearing, so a certain room could be colour drenched in the colour, or just have it appear in a few of your soft furnishings and vases.

Retro Interiors

Enter the TARDIS. Our destination? The 1970’s, the decade of the space hopper, Raleigh Chopper bikes, and home interiors with geometric patterns seemingly everywhere.

Those geometrics are getting reintroduced to internals, joined by their 70’s companions of natural wood dressing tables and bureaus, velvet textures, and retro wall tiles, our little way of rewinding the clock to when we had a more restful lifestyle.

Envisage flush windows coordinate with the nostalgic theme having been crafted to distinctly mimic the look of traditional timber windows from a bygone age.

Curvy Mirrors

Mirrors are one of only a handful of things that never seem to become outdated and there will be movement away from plain old square and rectangular mirrors to curved designs.

Walls in lounges, hallways and bathrooms adorned with intriguingly shaped mirrors have a habit of captivating us, and succeed in also reflecting light around enclosed spaces to give them a bigger feel.

Pop into the local second-hand shop or auction house and get introduced to mirrors in every size, shape and material that you can imagine to hang as either solo centrepieces or in a series of small arrangements.
