How To Measure Up For New Windows And Doors

In ordinary circumstances, we would send out a fitter to the home of a customer to measure up ahead of them being fitted at some point in the future, but because of the current restrictions, that isn’t possible. 

We have a solution though – you can measure them for us! It’s actually not a difficult job and we don’t need the measurements to be completely precise. 

They will provide us with a rough guide to the sort of window and door sizes we must produce, and any way, once a quote has been accepted and we’re able to visit, we will take more precise measurements.

Window buying and measuring

• Decide on your choice of window material – UPVC, aluminium or timber.
• Decide on a coloured finish. 
• When measuring the windows for width and height, go brick-to-brick and do it in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
• If you want a like-for-like window replacement, take a photograph of your existing windows and send it to us. 
• If you have seen a particular replacement window design that you like, again, please send us a photograph of it. 

Door buying and measuring

• Decide on your choice of door material – UPVC, composite, timber. 
• Decide on a coloured finish.
• Decide if you want the door to open in or out.
• Let us know if your current door is hinged on the left or right when looking at it from the outside. 
• When measuring the door, go brick-to-brick for the width and brick-to-floor for the height in either metric or imperial units. 
• Take a photograph of the outside of the door and send it to us if you want a like-for-like replacement.
