Give your fireplace a little extra cheer
Even though the Christmas tree is always the centre of attention, creating another focal point based around your fireplace can make a very cosy ambiance.

Reuse wine bottles and jars by putting fairy lights in them
If you enjoy hosting family and friends in the leadup to Christmas, then be sure to hold onto empty wine bottles and food jars.
Once you have given the bottles and jars a thorough cleaning, you can remove the labels and carefully drill a hole in the bottom of the bottle. Be sure that the hole is large enough so you can fit some red or white battery-powered LED lights inside for some festive lighting.
If DIY is not for you, then you can purchase some that have the hard work already done for you and display them on the dining table or window sills for festive cheer.
